This is my first tab, so I hope it's right. I was watching him play it live in London on
a Sony website and he has a capo on the first fret and plucks the strings around the 5th
fret area. I'm sure this is right, I play it on an Yamaha F310 and it sounds brilliant.
I was just fiddling around trying to get the tuning right with DADF#BE and I couldn't
work it out so I plucked the G -String when I was fiddling around and looked at Jose
while he was playing it and copied his hand movemenets.

This is a set of chords I devised to go with the tab I put up. If you can get someone
to play the chords while you play the main bit it sounds really nice.

Here's number eleven of tabs for the song Heartbeats by José Gonzalez.
And all the other versions say that they are correct...
I think it is based on the Travis picking style: use your thumb on each count. So the
pattern for your picking (right) hand is pip pmpi|p pmpipi
(p=thumb, i=index finger, m=middle finger) In the spaces is a hammer, played by your
left hand. Be sure that every half count gets one note, to get the right flow.
Especially the hammered notes (4h5) and the next note played by the thumb give the for
this song so typical effect:
they are on a different string but it is the same note! Good luck!
